The rules for current 24-hour website holds and future completed sales.
Reservation model
A website reservation places an item on a temporary hold. It is not a completed purchase, charge, transfer of ownership, or promise that an item is flawless. Payment occurs only through an accepted method when the transaction is completed.
Twenty-four-hour holds
Unless a listing says otherwise, the hold begins when the reservation is accepted by the system and lasts 24 hours. The expiration timestamp shown in the account is controlling. An expired hold may be released automatically or manually without further notice.
Pickup and payment
Pickup is arranged only after Modoto confirms that local pickup is legally and operationally enabled. Accepted payment methods are those presented at completion. Do not send payment details through email or XO messages.
Condition and inventory
Used-item condition is described in good faith and may include ordinary wear. Photos and descriptions are part of the condition disclosure. If simultaneous demand, damage, loss, database error, or prior sale creates a conflict, Modoto may cancel the hold and will not charge for an uncompleted transaction.
Price errors and taxes
Obvious pricing or listing errors may be corrected before completion. Applicable tax is determined at completion. Checkout remains disabled for categories whose tax treatment has not been reviewed.
Cancellations, returns, refunds, and unclaimed items
You may cancel a hold before completion. Return and refund eligibility depends on the item, condition, defect, disclosure, and applicable law and will be stated at sale. Unclaimed paid property will be handled under the written pickup notice and applicable law; it is not automatically forfeited merely because a reservation expires.
Shipping status
Shipping is not part of the current launch model unless a listing and checkout flow explicitly activate it. A future shipping feature will require updated terms, tax, fulfillment, and risk controls.
