PRE-LAUNCH COMMUNITY STANDARD
Build the web without harming the people in it.
These are operational community rules for the XO framework. They are not a substitute for final Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, copyright process, or professional legal review before public launch.
1. Organize before duplicating
Search existing subjects and aliases before creating a new page. Prefer one canonical subject with alternate names, translations, former names, and abbreviations attached to it.
2. Separate facts, sources, and discussion
Permanent page content should identify supporting sources. Posts may contain questions, opinions, proposals, and original work, but they do not become established page content merely because they are popular.
3. Do not publish private or sensitive personal information
No private addresses, phone numbers, personal email addresses, government identifiers, financial information, medical details, precise live locations, or non-public information about private people. Do not create pages about private individuals without a legitimate public-interest reason and appropriate consent or sourcing.
4. No harassment, threats, hate, stalking, or impersonation
Do not use taxonomy pages, groups, messages, projects, or listings to target people. Criticism of ideas, institutions, public actions, or sourced historical claims must remain specific and non-abusive.
5. Respect consent in messages and collaboration
Messaging preferences, blocks, private groups, and project membership boundaries must be honored. Do not evade a block or create new accounts to continue unwanted contact.
6. Do not use XO to facilitate illegal or dangerous activity
Requests, offers, projects, and listings may not coordinate violence, fraud, exploitation, illegal trade, malicious access, or unsafe activity. Legitimate educational and historical discussion must remain informational and responsibly framed.
7. Respect copyright and attribution
Link and cite rather than copying entire protected works. Upload only material you created, licensed, or are otherwise permitted to use. A formal copyright notice-and-takedown process must be completed before broad public uploads are enabled.
8. Use the closest page template, then extend it
A band page, scientific field, person, place, event, and creative work should not be forced into identical structures. Use shared fields where useful and subject-specific modules where necessary.
9. Report problems; do not organize retaliation
Use reporting and moderation tools for spam, threats, privacy violations, misinformation, copyright concerns, impersonation, or illegal content. Reports are records for review, not public accusations.
10. Age and launch boundary
The current framework does not accept contributors under age 13. Final age-assurance, parental-consent, privacy, data-retention, messaging, and youth-safety procedures require legal and operational review before public launch.
